My father's death made me realize that life is finite

Not tomorrow but now

My father Marcel passed away on March 9, 2016. My father taught me a lot. He was very socially engaged. He was passionate about paying attention to your family and other people. He couldn't stress it enough. He was a very energetic person with a great sense of initiative. He is one of the founders and was chairman of for a long time Incar Dance Spectacle and was involved day in and day out until his death. I regularly went out for something to eat and drink with my father. He was a real friend to me that I had a lot of support from. We talked a lot about the course of life and he liked to share how happy he was with his good health. It was as if he thought he was immortal. At the end of 2014, he was diagnosed with cancer that eventually turned fatal.

In this section “Grow along in a fast-changing world” I would like to share my experience and I want to inspire people to invest time in their growth path, both on a personal and professional level.

My father's death made me realize that life is finite.

It wasn't until after my father's death that I really began to realize that life is finite and that I should try to make the most of it every day, do as many meaningful things as possible, and try to follow your own path. During a Christmas party in 2018 I had a conversation about this with a niece of mine. And then the ball started rolling. She referred me to a 1976 book of Wayne Dyer entitled 'Not tomorrow but now'. It is a book that I believe contains a tremendous amount of truth and is highly relevant in the rapidly changing world we find ourselves in today. A book that can contribute to personal growth.

Perhaps you can test yourself to what extent you have already chosen happiness and self-fulfillment. Take a look at some of these questions and answer them as objectively as possible. A 'Yes' means that you are in control and have effectively made your choices

  • Do you not need the approval of others?
  • Can you accept yourself without complaint?
  • Are you more of an act than a critic?
  • Can you love yourself at all times?
  • Are you free from guilt?
  • Can you appreciate and create humor?

These are just some of the questions addressed in Wayne Dyer's book. The book can inspire you to take your life into your own hands and make yourself more resilient to a rapidly changing world.

Time flies and we don't live on this globe that long. Don't start tomorrow, but now. I try to do this every day. Success with it!
